Clone REAL573 is an antibody fragment derived from the full CD207 (Langerin) antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity.
Clone REAL573 recognizes the CD207 (Langerin) antigen, a 40 kDa, glycosylated type II transmembrane C-type lectin receptor, which is the standard marker for human and murine Langerhans cells (LCs).
LCs are a subset of dendritic cells (DCs) that reside in epithelia; the best studied example of these antigen-presenting cells are LCs of the epidermis.
CD207 (Langerin) is directly involved in antigen capture as well as endocytosis and induces the formation of typical Birbeck granules in immature DCs.
LCs become important in the initiation and regulation of immune responses, which is why CD207 (Langerin) is particularly suitable for immunhistochemistry.
For removal of REAdye_lease fluorochromes for optional relabeling with different fluorochrome-conjugated REAdye_lease antibodies use the REAlease Support Kit (130-120-675).
