Clone REAL493 is an antibody fragment derived from the full CD244.2 antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAlease Complex to bind markers with high avidity.
Clone REAL493 recognizes an alloantigen of the mouse CD244 antigen, a Single-pass type I membrane protein also known as 2B4. CD244 is a receptor belonging to the CD2 subfamily of the Ig superfamily and is involved in non-MHC dependent cytotoxicity. Expression of CD244 is found on all NK cells, γδ T cells, basophils, and monocytes as well as a subset of memory-phenotype CD8+ αβ T cells. The ligand of CD244 is CD48, which is expressed on all hematopoietic cells. CD244 is primarily involved in inhibiting NK cell functions. In inbred mice, at least two splice variants exist that differ in the length of the cytoplasmic domain. The long form functions in an inhibitory manner, while the short form functions in an activating manner. Clone REAL493 reacts with CD244.2, the CD244 allloantigen which is expressed on C57BL/6 and C58/J mice, but not in Balb/c mice.
The REAlease Kits consist of the respective fluorochrome-conjugated REAlease Complexes and the REAlease Support Kit for removal of the REAlease Complexes and optional relabeling with different fluorochrome-conjugated REAlease Complexes.
