Clone REA455 recognizes the human G-protein–coupled receptor ChemR23 antigen, a multi-pass membrane protein which is also known as chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1). ChemR23 is expressed by leukocyte populations such as macrophages, immature myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, as well as on a subset of natural killer (NK) cells. Its natural ligand, chemerin, is a small protein isolated and identified from human inflammatory fluids which acts as a chemoattractant agent for leukocytes expressing ChemR23. Activation of ChemR23 results in intracellular calcium release, inhibition of cAMP accumulation, and phosphorylation of ERK-1/ERK-2 MAP kinases. Chemerin and ChemR23 are involved in the recruitment of NK and dendritic cells (DCs) into tissues in several human inflammatory diseases. They also participate to the regulation of adipocyte metabolism.
Additional information: Clone REA455 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
