Clone REAL490 is an antibody fragment derived from the full CD235a (Glycophorin A) antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity.

Clone REAL490 recognizes CD235a, the major intrinsic membrane protein of erythrocytes, also known as glycophorin A. CD235a is a single-pass transmembrane glycoprotein and is expressed on mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells.CD235a is a receptor for Hepatitis A virus and plays an important role in translocation of SLC4A1 to the plasma membrane. CD235a is used as a marker for erythroid leukemias.

For removal of REAdye_lease fluorochromes for optional relabeling with different fluorochrome-conjugated REAdye_lease antibodies use the REAlease Support Kit (130-120-675).
