Clone REA1316 recognizes the human PARP1 enzyme, Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase 1, that modifies various nuclear proteins by poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation. PARP1 plays a role in DNA repair in response to environmental stress, genomic stability, and programmed cell death. It catalyzes the transfer of ADP-ribose units from NAD+ to a variety of nuclear proteins including topoisomerases, histones, and PARP itself. PARP1 is involved in differentiation, proliferation and tumor transformation. Furthermore PARP can be cleaved by many ICE-like caspases, it is a cleavage- target of the caspase-3 protease activity associated with apoptosis. Cancer tissues express PARP1 to a high extent, including neuroblastoma, testicular and other germ cell tumors, malignant lymphoma and breast and colon cancer.
Additional information: Clone REA1316 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
