Clone REA1048 recognizes the human siglec-10 antigen, also known as sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 10, which is a member of the CD33-related group of siglecs. The cytoplasmic tail of siglec-10 contains four tyrosines, two of which are embedded in ITIM-signaling motifs and are likely to be involved in intracellular signaling. Amongst peripheral blood leucocytes, siglec-10 was found to be expressed on eosinophils, monocytes, and B cells. Higher levels of siglec-10 were found on a minor subset of NK-like cells that express the CD16 low-affinity Fc receptor but lack the CD56 antigen. The molecular properties and expression pattern suggest that siglec-10 may have evolved to function as an inhibitory receptor of the innate immune system.
Additional information: Clone REA1048 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
