Recombinant Human Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) is a bioactive protein intended for use in cell culture applications. BDNF is a used in the maintenance of motor neurons and the differentiation of both cholinergic and dopaminergic neurons.

In-house activity testing of Gibco® Recombinant Proteins includes cell proliferation, cytotoxicity, chemotaxis, calcium flux, secondary cytokine up-regulation, induction of surface antigen expression, antiviral, and protease assays. Recombinant Human Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) specific activity is determined by measuring the dose-dependent induction of choline acetyl transferase activity in primary septal cell cultures.
