Ambion® Pre-miR miRNA Starter Kit is a complete solution for controlling and transfection optimization in miRNA gain-of-function experiments mediated by synthetic miRNA mimics. It contains a positive control, a TaqMan® Gene Expression Assay to measure the positive control, a negative control, and a transfection agent.

Upon delivery into cells, the positive control (miR-1 Pre-miR miRNA Precursor) effectively down regulates the expression of twinfilin-1, also known as PTK9, at the mRNA level. This can be detected by real-time PCR using a TaqMan® Gene Expression Assay for PTK9 (Assay ID: Hs00702289_s1), which is included in the kit. (Note: the control miRNA mimic can also be used in mouse cells, but requires a specific TaqMan® Gene Expression Assay for mouse PTK9 that is available separately; Assay ID Mm01598980_g1.)

The included negative control does not target any known mRNA within the human or mouse transcriptome. Also included is siPORT™ NeoFX™ Transfection Agent, a lipid-based transfection agent optimized for use with siRNAs and miRNA mimics.
